In 1985, Black alumni of the university formed the Northeastern University Black Alumni Association (NUBAA). These alums recognized the need to form an association to serve as a mechanism to continue established relationships and to form new ones beyond our collegiate years. Together with the aforementioned, the founders believed that the goals and purpose of the organization is:
1) to promote the welfare of Northeastern University and to encourage, foster and maintain close relations between Northeastern University and its Black Alumni;
2) to assist Black students at Northeastern in their pursuit of excellence in higher education and career opportunities; and
3) to establish and perpetuate fellowship among all alumni.
Membership to NUBAA is open to any person who has graduated from an undergraduate or graduate school or college or received a certificate from a certificate program from Northeastern University.
